The Puranas associate the area with Lord Varaha, one of the Dashavataras of Lord Vishnu.
Venkatadri is believed to be a part of Mount Meru, which was brought to the earth from Vishnu’s abode of Vaikunta by his mount Garuda.

Tirupati is referred to as the "Spiritual Capital of Andhra pradesh"

thirumala tirupati (Thiruvengatam) is 75th divya desam is one of the 108 Vishnu temples that are mentioned in the works of the Tamil Azhwars.

The Tirumala seven hills are known as Sapthagiri

The Tirumala Hills are 853 metres (2799 ft) above sea level.
The hill comprises 7 Peaks, representing the 7 heads of Adisesha.

1.Seshadri
2.Neeladri
3.Garudadri
4.Anjanadri
5.Vrushabhadri
6.Narayahadri and
7.Venkatadri

To illustrate that Venkatadri is unique in its sacredness
it is enough to point out that Sri Ramanuja, the great Sri Vaishnava Acharya,
ascended Tirumala on his knees as he thought it sacrilegious to climb on foot
the Hills on which the Lord rested.

It is said that Lord Vishnu manifested himself in this temple in order to guide the people of Kali age
towards emancipation. Therefore this temple is also called as Bhuloka Vaikuntam (the abode of Vishnu on the earth)
and Lord Balaji is called as Kaliyuga Pratyaksha Daivam (the manifested lord of the Kali age).

A famous verse from the puranas speak of the greatness of tirupati Balaji temple:

Venkatadri Samasthanam Brahmande Nasti KinchanaVenkatesha Samo Devo Na Bhuto Na Bhavishyati

Meaning:
There is no sacred place on the earth equal to Venkatadri (Tirupati – Tirumala);
There is no Lord equal to Lord Venkatesha (Balaji)

Sastras, Puranas, Sthala Mahatmyarns, and Alwar hymns, unequivocally declare that
in the Kali Yuga one can attain mukti only through worshipping this Venkata Nayaka or Lord Venkateswara.
